Who/ what is PDF2ePub
PDF2ePub is a Silicon Valley based startup focussed on providing technology driven eBook conversion services. Our first product is PDF to ePub conversion tool set.
What solutions do you provide?
PDF2ePub provides three types of solutions to convert Adobe PDF documents to IDPF ePub documents.
- Adobe Acrobat plugin - the plugin adds an extra option in the File | SaveAs dialog to save the currently open PDF as ePub. The plugin works with Adobe Acrobat version 7 or later.
- Server based solution - this allows you to upload a PDF file and within seconds download the converted ePub document.
- Conversion API - if you are interested in using our API suite for converting PDFs to ePub documents, please contact us.

What is the pricing for your solutions
We haven't announced our prices yet but expect to do so with our first public launch. The pricing for Acrobat plugin solution will be based on per install basis. If you are interested in the server solution or API offering, please drop us a note.
What is the quality of the conversion?
Our solution works best with Tagged PDFs. If the PDF is not tagged, the solution requires some work prior to conversion to ensure the best conversion results. For more details, see the help pages.
In general, the quality depends on two factors:
- PDF quality - PDFs can be created in a variety of ways. The quality of a PDF varies a lot with the software used to create the PDF file. Adobe Acrobat produces the best quality PDFs while many low end PDF creation shareware tools produce poor quality documents. The quality of conversion from our solution depends a lot on the quality of PDF document you have. The best conversion results using our tool can be obtained for PDFs which have tags embedded in them by the authoring application (also called Tagged PDFs).
- Layout complexity of PDF - Keep in mind that PDF is a fixed file format which was not created with content extraction and content re-purposing in mind. Our solution works best with simple layout PDFs. Complex layout PDFs will typically require manual pre-conversion touch-ups using ePub tool and TouchUp Reading order tools to ensure best possible conversion result.
Do you have a solution that works with PDF Library (PDFL)?
We don't have a solution ready but it is on our roadmap.
How do you ensure the validity of generated ePubs?
The ePubs generated by our solution pass the ePubCheck v1.0.5 validation.If you see any issues with the ePubs failing the validation check, kindly let us know.
Will the ePubs work with iBookStore on iPad
The ePubs work on iPad however we are working on adding page navigation support for iPad bound ePubs.
